With the recent flood events in South East Queensland, many tenants have found their rental properties inundated with water, causing damage to not only the building or premises, but also personal property. Community legal centres play a key role in providing advice and information to tenants in appropriately responding to these issues, and negotiating with landlords and real estate agents.
This webinar, presented by Justin Raiteri, Senior Associate in the Commercial Property Team at HopgoodGanim Lawyers, will discuss what rights individuals may have where their tenancy arrangement, including their rented property or site, has been impacted by the recent flooding, with a focus on the renting of residential properties and units, moveable dwellings and caravan park sites.
Justin will also discuss some tools that may be available to a tenant to seek to open up a line of communication with their property manager or the property owner to discuss the tenant’s needs in the aftermath of the recent flooding.
