Law Students (Workers’ Rights Team – Voluntary) – Caxton Community Legal Centre

Volunteers will work with experienced Senior Lawyers working in the Workers’ Rights Team. This team advises and represents clients involved in workplace disputes with a focus on sexual harassment and discrimination matters.

We are looking for a law student that can commit to volunteering one day per week.

conduct a range of task including

  • Research on legal issues
  • Development of precedents and resources
  • Taking notes and assisting with client interviews
  • Preparing draft advices and letters
  • Liaising with social workers and financial counsellors
  • Assisting with file and data management
  • Assisting with liaison with volunteer private law firms
  • Assisting with the conduct of cases particularly in the Fair Work Commission, Queensland Industrial Relations Commission, Australian Human Rights Commission and Queensland Human Rights Commission

We are looking for enthusiastic motivated and flexible students who are keen to learn and gain experience and contribute to the provision of legal services to vulnerable people.

Opportunities may also arise to work in other areas of Caxton Community Legal Centre.
