Family Violence and Temporary Visas

RAILS senior lawyer and senior supervising solicitor, Joanna Cull and RAILS lawyer, Mu Shwe discuss current and emerging issues for temporary residents who experience family violence in Australia. Mu and Joanna will discuss the Migration Regulations family violence and child of relationship provisions, which allow holders of certain temporary visas to obtain permanent residence where they have separated and experienced family and domestic violence. The session will provide an overview of the family violence provisions, useful practice tips, challenges encountered and strategies in response as well as discussing options for clients who are not able to rely on the family violence or child of relationship provisions but wish to remain in Australia.

This webinar brings CPD points for lawyers and migration agents subject to the rules of your state law society and MARA (agents note that it will change from a Category A workshop (WK2291-1) into a Category B seminar (SM754-1) if participant numbers are over 30).

RAILS education is free for community organisations and pro bono workers and volunteers. For others it is $65 per session (incl GST).
