The New Employment Services Model: What’s new? What’s changed?

The New Employment Services Model
June 15, 2022, 12pm-1pm (Queensland time)
Hosted by: Community Legal Centres Queensland

On 1 July this year, jobactive will be replaced by a new and completely different employment services model, known as Workforce Australia. In late May, social security income support recipients who are required to use employment services (ie jobactive participants) will receive letters from the Department of Education, Skills and Employment, containing information about the employment services model changes. Despite best efforts to ensure communications are accessible and timely, there is likely to be some confusion as the changes are implemented.

In this webinar, Simone Casey, Senior Policy Adviser with ACOSS, will outline the new system and explore some potential implementation pain points including that:

  • Around half of jobactive participants will go into digital employment services, with the other half required to attend face-to-face services with a refreshed network of job service providers; and
  • Workforce Australia will bring a new set of ‘points-based activation’ requirements with new 6-monthly activities, together with other changes.

This webinar is presented in partnership with Economic Justice Australia.
